Now "village officials" has become a hotly debated topic. As college graduates how they should choose their careers. It is reported that many college graduates are competing for working as village officials. About it different people view differently. The thought of village officials was first proposed in 2005 by government, the first batch of college graduates were appointed as "village officials" in 28 provinces and regions, which is for improving rural administration, as well as to create more jobs for graduates. Among these village officials, 56 percent wanted to work at the grass-roots level, 37 percent wanted to experience the rural lifestyle, 23 percent were interested in the Three Agricultural Problems. In addition, 47 percent chose to be a village official just because the jobs were not easy to find and it would be better to start off with any work experience.
The aim of the government to set village officials is to reinforce rural administration and add more jobs for those graduates. It can also inject more fresh ideas and enthusiasm to many villages, it already has thousands of college graduates settled into their careers in these rural areas. However, there are many different voices about this phenomenon.
Some think that college graduates can service a lot for the growing of countryside, which will also stimulate the countryside's economy. Meanwhile, college students can make full use their professional knowledge and enthusiasm to bring a new vitality in China's building of new socialist countryside; secondly, they can also bring in many new cultures and thoughts to fasten the development of countryside culture, which will also narrow down the gap between countryside and city.
Others may not agree so, they think that students learn for 12 or more than that years should be working in a more decent place, like a top building in a big city, but not a far away suburban, and they can and will find a and more suitable position for themselves from so many jobs.
